Diastat Bill Update

Diastat Bill Update

Great appreciation is extended to all who continue to support SB1051 . SB 1051 was heard on April 21, 2010 in the Senate Health Committee where a decision was made by Senator Elaine Alquist, the committee chair, to grant the bill a "reconsideration vote" on May 5th. This action is due to the fact that amendments were unable to be heard by the full committee membership due to the absence of four of the committee policy makers. Your support is still needed - voice your opinion by sharing your name and home address with Rebekkah by email.

The ketogenic diet is certainly a journey as Carrie Baum, the mother of 3½ year old Sebastian, shares in her Ketogenic Diet Support blog. Quick to note that medical questions and concerns should be directed to the appropriate source (i.e. doctors), Carrie offers her personal experience as a means for others to relate and perhaps learn from her family's mistakes and successes with the diet.

Supporting Individuals with Epilepsy in Honor of Mom

This Mother's Day (Sunday, May 9), honor a special woman in your life - your mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, daughter, cousin or girl friend. Express your gratitude and appreciation by making a donation to your local Epilepsy Foundation in her honor. We will notify that 'special person' of your gift with a special card. Your donation not only honors a special someone, but also touches the lives of some of the over 180,000 individuals in the Greater Los Angeles area who benefit from our programs and services. Thank you for your generous support. To make a donation please visit MothersDay2010-EFGLA.kintera.org.

Save Epilepsy Teen Retreat 2010

With all optimism, we are moving forward with Epilepsy Teen Retreat being held in Lake Arrowhead from June 20 - 25! We are grateful for the support to save the program, but our goal is not yet realized. Many of the children need scholarships to attend the camp. More fundraising is needed so scholarships can be granted. Sponsor a camp scholarship and make a donation today at SaveEpilepsyTeenRetreat.kintera.org.
